2006-2007
Joseph Martin Middle School serves 5-8 grades and its enrollment for the 2006-07 school year was 757. The student population was 16.2% SPED, 82.3% white and 6.9% Hispanic. There were 52 teachers and 92.9% of core teachers were Highly Qualified.

Teamwork was the key to our implementation at Martin this year. The JFYNet Site Coordinator, Jeanne Chiang, was in constant contact with the principal, assistant principal and computer teacher. All the aforementioned staff was actively involved and took special care to make sure that all of their classes, including before-school and vacation school classes, were properly managed for both math and ELA. The challenge at Martin was that many classes were supervised by a teaching assistant and/or teachers who were not content area experts.
