2006-2007
This was the first year that Lynn Vocational Technical Institute participated in the JFYNet Academic Support Program. LVTI has a population of 1,156 students, offering grades 9-12. With 27.2% white students, 49.8% Hispanic students, 11% African American students, and 8.7% Asian students; 81.9% of the students come from low-income families. LVTI had 44 students participate in the program. The majority of students were 10th graders preparing for the math MCAS exam. Several students were English language learners that used ELA skill building lessons with their teacher – the students seemed to enjoy the lessons and the teacher felt that they were making good progress.
