2006-2007
Fitchburg High School, located approximately 50 miles west of Boston and 25 miles north of Worcester, serves 1400 students in grades 9 through 12. During the 2006-2007 school year 3 math teachers participated in the JFYNet program. All of these teachers had previous experience working with JFYNet. Two of these teachers taught smaller MCAS remediation classes together. These classes had small numbers of students and would utilize PLATO software in conjunction with the JFYNet offline MCAS resources and traditional classroom lessons. The third teacher used the PLATO software with his MCAS class as well as his geometry class. The reporting feature of PLATO was used very well to keep track of the progress of students in his classes and to make instructional decisions. Fitchburg has been involved with JFYNet for 5 years now in various capacities and continues to successfully incorporate the Academic Support Program into their curriculum. Fitchburg High School was awarded a JFYNet Achievement Award in May of 2007.
