2006-2007
Foxborough Regional Charter School serves K-12 grade students and its enrollment for the 2006-07 school year was 1021. Almost 85% of its enrollment was K-8. The student population was 8.2% SPED and 77.6% white (11.6% African American). There were a total of 78 teachers and 80% of core teachers were Highly Qualified. This was our second year working with FRCS. A new curriculum specialist was hired mid-year and she initiated and oversaw the use of program and materials working closely with the JFYNet Site Coordinator, Jeanne Chiang. Specific at-risk 8th and 10th graders were selected (approximately 51 students) to participate in the program. Their MCAS data was analyzed and used to prescribe a set list of key skills; these were then aligned to appropriate PLATO software modules. Every class began by handing out a list of individualized modules to complete and then the specialist circulated the class, checking frequently for understanding and mastery of content. This was an excellent strategy and it used class time wisely and effectively. FRCS also used the JFYNet Academic Support program materials for their summer programs.
