2006-2007
Friedman Middle School serves 5-8 grades and its enrollment for the 2006-07 school year was 935. The student population was 14.3% SPED and 85.6% white. There were 55 teachers and 96.9% of core teachers are Highly Qualified.
Friedman MS implemented their program much like the way they had in the previous year, with the primary users being the 5th-8th grade special needs math classes. Strengths of their implementation continue to be strong administrative support, scheduling and teacher buy-in. Towards the end of the school year, a separate and newer math lab was established just for the special needs classes, leaving the original lab open to accommodate additional classes. FMS was highlighted in a JFYNet Webinar, as an example of a school that has established and implemented best practices. FMS made AYP in the aggregate and all subgroups on the spring 2006 and spring 2007 MCAS.
