2006-2007
David Prouty High School serves approximately 660 students in grades 9 through 12. This is the third year that David Prouty has participated in the JFYNet Academic Support Program. In 2006-2007, JFYNet worked with 4 math teachers and 1 ELA teacher. The math teachers involved in the program taught algebra, geometry, statistics, and MCAS remediation classes during and after school. Classroom computer labs were shared as well as a central library lab with a smaller number of computers was available. At David Prouty, textbook alignments are primarily used by the teachers using the JFYNet program. The library lab was used by the sole ELA teacher to work on reading remediation. During the summer of 2007 JFYNet will work with two math teachers in an MCAS prep based summer program. David Prouty has been doing an exceptional job in implementing the JFYNet program and has been awarded a JFYNet Achievement Award for the second straight year.
The goals of the grant at David Prouty are evolving faster than at many of our sites where we continue to work with mostly low-performers and SPED students. At David Prouty, in addition to moving students out of failing and in to needs improvement, we are also working to get more students at the proficient level. Evidence from our most recent data analysis indicates that we are well on our way to achieving these results;
