Brockton - Champion Charter Public (CCP)

Champion Charter Public is an un-graded high school for Brockton students who have previously left school prior to earning a HS diploma and those at risk of dropping out. Students obtain a regular high school diploma based on a demonstration of skills and not "seat time." Student enrollment during the 2005-2006 was 124. The student population was 11.3% SPED, 36.3% white and 47.6% African American. 100% of students were low income.

The JFYNet program was initiated to help 15 MCAS re-testers and all spring MCAS testers in math, but all students and teachers (including ELA) were enrolled and had access to the program. Most classrooms had 3 to 5 relatively new computers and teachers could use the PLATO software in their own classrooms, on their own schedules. Class sizes ranged from 5 to 10. Overall usage supplemented the project-based environment. Champion Charter is under new leadership and has plans to target a more aggressive use of the JFYNet program and materials in the future.
