2006-2007
B.F. Brown Arts Vision Middle School serves approximately 450 students in grades 5 through 8. 2006-2007 marked the first year that B.F. Brown participated in the JFYNet Academic Support Program. To allow for successful implementation of the program, a computer lab was created so that the 8 math teachers that worked with JFYNet could have a location to bring their entire class to utilize the software. Students also used this lab and the PLATO software during their “specials” class to get additional instruction on specific topics. Many students have specific performance objectives that need to be addressed during the course of the school year and the JFYNet program, PLATO software and other resources were aligned to these objectives in order to be most efficient and meet the individual student needs. Coming up with the resources to implement a program like the one JFYNet provides is not always an easy task and B.F. Brown was able to accomplish all this and more. As a result, B.F. Brown was awarded a JFYNet Achievement Award at the Statehouse in May of 2007 For Outstanding Effort in Support of Student Achievement.
